Responsibilities:
- Assist in oversight of the operations of an all-inclusive agricultural laboratory, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and standards set forth by ISO, DEC, and FDA/APHIS.
- Assist in development of new testing methods, to include learning to write validation protocols and reports, as well as uncertainly budgets.
-Assist in development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient testing processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of laboratory services.
- Stay updated on advancements in laboratory technology and techniques, and recommend implementation of new methodologies as appropriate.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Monitor quality control measures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and personnel training records.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures-- particularly in areas such as crude oil, petroleum, cannabis, fertilizer chemistry (GCMS, GCFID, HPLCUV/PDA, ICP, LCMS), microbiology/molecular biology (PCR, ELISA, VITEK, MPN), and veterinary clinical diagnostic and biosecurity testing (specific clinical instrumentation).
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent understanding of ISO and FDA regulations and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively lead a team.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills to identify potential issues or errors in test results.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with other departments and communicate complex scientific concepts to non-scientific personnel.
